zero tolerance policy - for Safety, Discipline, and Prohibit

Purpose

Steven’s Training & Business Center (“STBC”) is committed to providing a safe, professional, respectful and productive learning environment. Every participant, instructor, staff member, volunteer, and visitor is expected to contribute to a culture that promotes personal responsibility, integrity, safety, and mutual respect.

This Zero Tolerance Policy establishes behavioral expectations and disciplinary standards for participants enrolled in STBC programs, classes, workshops, mentoring sessions, and activities. STBC maintains zero tolerance for conduct that threatens the safety, well-being, or moral integrity of the campus community, including weapons, violence or threats, alcohol, illegal drugs, and disruptive or unsafe conduct.


1. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All enrolled participants
  • Staff and instructors
  • Volunteers and mentors
  • Visitors attending STBC campus and/or sponsored activities

This policy applies:

  • On STBC property
  • During classes and training sessions
  • During off-site events sponsored by STBC
  • In online platforms
  • During transportation connected to STBC activities


2. General Expectations for Student Conduct

Students are expected to:

  • Conduct themselves respectfully and professionally
  • Follow instructor and staff directions immediately
  • Respect the rights, safety and property of others.
  • Maintain behavior conducive to learning and personal growth
  • Refrain from disruptive, threatening, abusive, intimidating or unsafe actions
  • Comply with all STBC policies and applicable laws

Failure to meet these expectations may result in disciplinary action.


3. Zero Tolerance Prohibited Conduct

A. Weapons

STBC strictly prohibits the possession, use, display, or distribution of weapons of any kind on campus or at STBC-sponsored activities.

Prohibited weapons include, but are not limited to:

  • Firearms
  • Ammunition
  • Explosives
  • Knives intended for harm
  • Tasers or stun devices
  • Martial arts weapons
  • Any object used to threaten or intimidate others

Consequences

Any individual found in possession of a weapon may face:

  • Immediate removal from the premises
  • Suspension or permanent dismissal from STBC programs
  • Notification of law enforcement
  • Permanent restriction from STBC property

B. Violence, Threats, and Aggressive Behavior

STBC maintains zero tolerance for:

  • Physical fights or assaults
  • Threats of violence
  • Intimidation or harassment
  • Bullying or cyberbullying
  • Verbal abuse
  • Destruction of property
  • Disorderly or aggressive behavior

Threats made verbally, physically, electronically, or through social media will be treated as serious violations.

Consequences

Violent or threatening behavior may result in:

  • Immediate removal from class or campus
  • Suspension or expulsion
  • Referral to law enforcement
  • Restriction from future participation in STBC programs

C. Alcohol and Drug Prohibition

The possession, use, sale, distribution, or being under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited on STBC property and during STBC-sponsored activities. 

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Illegal narcotics
  • Marijuana or cannabis products prohibited under STBC rules
  • Misused prescription medications
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Vape products containing marijuana or illegal substances

Participants may not attend class or activities while impaired.

Consequences

Violations may result in:

  • Immediate dismissal from class or activities
  • Mandatory removal from campus
  • Suspension or termination from participation
  • Referral to law enforcement when appropriate

STBC reserves the right to require reasonable suspicion reporting or intervention when safety concerns arise.


4. Classroom Discipline Procedures

To maintain a safe and productive environment, STBC may implement the following disciplinary measures:

Step 1 — Verbal Warning

Minor first-time misconduct may result in a verbal warning from staff or instructors.

Step 2 — Written Warning

Repeated misconduct or disruptive behavior may result in a documented warning.

Step 3 — Removal from Class

Participants who interfere with instruction or compromise safety may be removed immediately.

Step 4 — Administrative Review

Serious or repeated violations may result in:

  • Behavioral probation
  • Suspension
  • Program dismissal
  • Restriction from future enrollment

Severe violations involving weapons, violence, drugs, or threats may bypass progressive discipline and result in immediate removal or restriction.


5. Reporting Responsibilities

All participants, instructors, volunteers and visitors are encouraged to immediately report:

  • Weapons
  • Threats or intimidation
  • Suspicious behavior
  • Drug or alcohol violations
  • Unsafe conduct

Reports should be made to:

  • STBC staff or instructors
  • Program administration
  • Security personnel
  • Emergency services when necessary

Retaliation against individuals who report concerns in good faith is strictly prohibited.


6. Search and Seizure

To protect the safety of everyone at STBC campus and events, STBC reserves the right to inspect:

  • Bags and backpacks
  • Personal belongings brought onto STBC property
  • Lockers or assigned storage areas
  • Vehicles parked on STBC premises when reasonable suspicion exists

Illegal or prohibited items may result in immediate removal from STBC property and/or involvement of law enforcement.


7. Respectful Learning Environment

While STBC enforces strict disciplinary standards, we’re committed to fostering:

  • Professionalism
  • Accountability
  • Personal growth
  • Workforce readiness
  • Mutual respect

Participants are expected to contribute positively to the learning environment and avoid conduct that disrupts instruction, creates fear, or undermines program goals.


8. Acknowledgment and Compliance

All participants may be required to sign an acknowledgment form confirming that they:

  • Have read and understood this policy
  • Agree to comply with STBC standards
  • Understand the disciplinary consequences for violations

Failure to comply with this policy may result in removal from STBC programs.
